Networking, Connection, Intertwinement
A focus on connection is at the center of this project. As a significant part of Saarland University, the new innovation center is intended to join various scientific disciplines in terms of content and space and to facilitate the transfer of knowledge. The design by BFA archicturally implements this objective through an interweaving of the “inside and outside” as well as the “horizontal and vertical.” The goal is to create flexible room units, facilitating an open and inviting space for communication and exchange. The facade, with its different rhythmic slats, defines the outer shell as a positive field of tension and arouses curiosity.
